Documentary film premiere The more it comes the more it goes followed by a panel discussion & documentary film screening Don't touch my holocaust
The Israeli director David Maayan is considered a pioneer of experimental and interactive theatre. He has translated and directed numerous plays in Israel and many other countries and created performances for theatres and festivals – including the Wiener Festwochen, the Berliner Festwochen, the Theaterspektakel Zürich, the Schauspielhaus Wien, Linz 09 and many others. In his artistic work he deals intensively with the subject of the Holocaust, searching for new artistic ways of addressing the unspeakable and offering alternative, tangible perspectives for the audience. He founded the Akko Theatre Center in northern Israel and ran it for many years. He was also artistic director of the Jerusalem Street Festival and the Akko Festival.
Central themes in his work include the role of remembering and thinking about the Holocaust; the analysis of how remembrance differs between generations; and how families talk about it today, 80 years later.
The Theater Nestroyhof Hamakom, which has a long-standing collaboration with David Maayan, is showing two film documentaries about his work as a director.
